- Clove bud is harvested and sun-dried until they turn to the
characteristics of deep red-brown colour before being distilled. Cloves value
as a medicine and spice lead to it being the cause of the spice wars from
Asia to Carrabin's, with European nations fighting over access to it. Clove
continues to be an important component in cooking and perfumery.

- The plant material is harvested when flowering and distilled while
still fresh. Marjoram leaves and branches have been found in burial sites
dating from the Roman period of ancient Egypt. Marjoram has been
incorporated since that time in ointments and used in spiritual cleansing.
Marjoram is used for seasoning soups, stews, salad dressings, sauces, and
herbal teas.

- The perennial herb is grown from a rhizome with downward
extending roots. Long, thin leaves grow from the central stalk to a height of
ground of around 4ft. the rhizomes are dried for a couple of weeks after
harvesting, then crushed, dried again, sieved, then distilled. Ginger is native
to China and spread throughout Asia, where it was and is still considered
highly medicinal. It does also have a reputation for being an aphrodisiac.
