- Juniper Berry is recognizable by some as the characteristic aroma of
gin and, for those of Eastern European descent, the distinctive ingredient in
traditional cabbage and sauerkraut recipes. While its attributes include a

the spirits during times of low energy, anxiety and weakness.

- A coniferous evergreen tree that can grow over 100ft high with tiny
dark green leaves on small branchlets and both female and male flowers.
Known as the Mediterranean cypress, this is a long-living tree with a
symbolic history of use in mourning and in cemeteries. A cypress tree in
Iran is estimated to be over 4000 years old. Cypress essential oil is a
common ingredient in men's colognes.

- The perennial herb is grown from a rhizome with downward
extending roots. Long, thin leaves grow from the central stalk to a height of
ground of around 4ft. the rhizomes are dried for a couple of weeks after
harvesting, then crushed, dried again, sieved, then distilled. Ginger is native
to China and spread throughout Asia, where it was and is still considered
highly medicinal. It does also have a reputation for being an aphrodisiac.

- The word lavender is derived from the Latin word lavera, “to wash”
because the Romans used flowers in their baths. The ancient Greeks,
Persians and Romans burnt lavender in rooms where people were sick.
Today lavender is grown in many countries, each version having somewhat
different properties. The plant is harvested in mid-summer, left to dry for a
couple of days to maximize the aroma, and then distilled.
